What’s the BIG DEAL!?

Why All the Hype & Controversy about Opening Up Schools?

Do I look like I “give-a-care” what they think or say?

So what if the news is consistently reporting that schools should open up?  Who gives a “Good Cuss” if the President and other high-level officials say schools should open . . . soon? What is the big deal anyway?

I don’t see a problem. My grandson is NOT going to school when it opens! GOD blessed me with this miracle child, and I will not participate in reckless unhealthy practices concerning his health and well-being. I’m too Blessed to act stupid!

5-day old Grandson in NICU (neonatal intensive care unit)

Leaving Hospital - 14 days old . . . just a "dot" in the car seat!

Home: 2 months old - in Grandma's thankful arms!

Enough already, that’s my rant about schools opening up soon. My grandson will NOT be going!

6 years later, "Ain't GOD GOOD". . . AGG!

What are your thoughts on this topic? Are you sending your school aged kids to school when they open? Why? Why not? Please tell us your POV in the comments. We’d love to hear it.

Thank GOD, it's the Weekend!

Thank GOD It's The Weekend!

Time to relax and enjoy!

Another week has come and gone, flew by rather quickly, thank goodness. Now the week is over already.

Thank God, it's the weekend! I’m looking forward to relaxing, I hope. Mama’s here, she’s been here a good long while. Keeping her fed and “doped-up” are my only must-dos.

Still, I look forward to a whole lot of quiet time. I hope to do as much nothing as possible all day and for the rest of the weekend.

Last week was busy, but good. The BEST part of the past week was getting to spend more time with Grandson, Jace. He is out of school for Covid-19 and summer vacation.  We spend a lot of time chill-laxing, snacking, eating, and chatting and such.

He’s growing like a California Wildfire, almost as tall as his (short) mommy already. He gets that from his dad and from MY dad.

Well enough about mucha’ nothing. That’s my weekend rant.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

What about you? How was your week? What did you do? What fun things do you have planned for the rest of this weekend? Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy yourself!

Anybody heard any funny jokes lately? I need a good laugh!

May tomorrow bring love, happiness, and peace!

Wishing you a blessed and safe weekend!

224 Words About…

How I Got to Be MiMi

I informed my brother I was going to be a grandma, for the first time. He asked me what name the grandbaby would call me. I hadn’t thought much about it at that point. However, I did tell my brother that it didn’t really matter what the baby called me as long as he/she said it lovingly. We had a good little laugh about that.

Later my daughter and I discussed different names for grandmas, trying to decide what I wanted to be called. She and I both had some definite “no-no(s)” concerning names I definitely did NOT want to be called. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing bad about the names. I just did not want to be called those names.

Anyway, we did not reach an agreement on a name for me. It wasn’t until after my grandson was several months old that I realized my daughter had started referring to me as “MiMi”.  When grandson started “talking” himself, he called me MiMi. The name stuck.

There you have it, that’s how I got to be MiMi. By the time Grandson Jace, was 5 years old I was forever and ever…“THE MiMi”.

Now, here we are almost 10 years later (Grandson’s birthday is next month) and we are Forever & Ever . . . “The MiMi & The Jace”!!!

Precious Memories!

When Toddlers Talk Back

When Toddlers "Talk Back"

One morning 4 year old, grandson Jace, disagreed with something I had told him to do. He had his reasons for not wanting to do as I asked. He and I talked back and forth about it for a minute. I stated my POV, Jace stated his POV. I listen to him without consequence.

My mama sat watching and listening to the whole thing with this totally disapproving look on her face. When Jace and I finished discussing the situation and I hadn’t “beat him to a pulp”, Mama asked, “Is he talking back to you?”

I answered her, “Yes, he is”. And, I left it at that. I knew her mind was churning a mile a minute about what SHE would have done or possibly what I should have done differently.

What I didn’t even try to explain to her is this. Jace is an exceptionally bright and strong-willed child. He has a mind of his own, already. He is adamant about what he does want and more so about what he does not want. For now, I give him the opportunity to “talk back”. I want him to let me know what’s on his mind.

I always discuss “talking back” and what is acceptable and what is not with Jace immediately following one of these circumstances. I plan to continue these discussions until he is old enough and his understanding has developed to the point where he knows what is acceptable and what is not.

My personal opinion, for me and mine, is this. I want Jace to have a voice and not be afraid to speak-up when he needs to. A spanking/butt whooping is not the answer. It would serve no good purpose to spank a child and have them fear talking to you or with you.

I further believe that I can better help Jace by helping him understand the difference between speaking up for himself, stating his opinions or frustrations, and simply being disrespectful.

Do you think kids should have a voice? Do you believe in the old, “Do What I Tell You to do Without Question”? What are your thoughts on this?

Make It BIG!

To have what you want, to be the person you want to be, to do what you want with your life, make it important to you.

If all the daily details of life are preventing you from reaching your goal, then your goal is not big enough. To reach your goal, make it important. Make it big.

Visualize it in your mind, not in some little corner that gets attention once or twice a week, but front and center. Mentally put your goal in the way, blocking everything else.

Whatever you must look around, in order to see something else, will happen. Whatever you cannot avoid thinking of, will get accomplished. Instead of letting life get in the way of your goal, put your goal right smack in the way of your life.

Do you really want it? That’s the way to have it.

Make it big in your mind, and you’ll get there.

Fruitful Friday

Lessons From A Rose

Roses are full of thorns. Life is full of pain.

Live your life like the rose. Spread your beauty and your fragrance, oblivious to the thorns and their potential to cause pain.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If God allowed us to go through our life without any obstacles it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. And we could never fly.

My Motivation!

My Photo

This painting from grandson, Jace, was a "just because" surprise gift. It brought an instant smile to m y face. I still smile every time I pass it hanging prominently on the wall in the family room.

Thank you, Jace! I LOVE it!
