Why All the Hype & Controversy about Opening Up Schools?
Do I look like I “give-a-care” what they think or say?
So what if the news is consistently reporting that schools should open
up? Who gives a “Good Cuss” if the
President and other high-level officials say schools should open . . . soon? What
is the big deal anyway?
I don’t see a problem. My grandson is NOT going to school when it opens! GOD blessed me with this miracle
child, and I will not participate in reckless unhealthy practices concerning
his health and well-being. I’m too Blessed to act stupid!

Enough already, that’s my
rant about schools opening up soon. My
grandson will NOT be going!
6 years later, "Ain't GOD GOOD". . . AGG!

ReplyDeleteI am not sure if they should, but it appears as if schools will open here in some form or other in September. If they were my kids and not my grands, I would be tempted to keep them home. That being said, however, our region has been doing pretty well, so I dunno.

ReplyDeleteWell, the thing is the virus isn't going anywhere, and it's not sure a vaccine will solve problems.
So, people are trying to find ways to live with the virus around. Places open up, then get closed, and vice versa. It's a period of great uncertainty.
Everyone should take responsability for himself and family. Your decision is an example of a responsible person and it should be understood and respected.
Absolutely! Keep him safe! Education is important, but this virus is dangerous as hell. It's better for a child to miss a year and go back when we have a vaccine, than to be put at risk of death or life-long organ damage (and remember, children can transmit it to other family members too).
ReplyDeleteI don't have children, but if I did, I wouldn't take the risk.
My grandchildren are still in the "undecided" category. Their parents are really ticked that the private and expensive school they attend hasn't communicated very well through this entire situation. My grandnephew's public school will start August 6th, supposedly, and he will be a freshman at the high school. His parents are not as diligent, in my opinion, about the whole Covid issue, so I am not sure what will happen. They are in law enforcement and security, respectively, so they encounter who knows what in their daily work out and about.

Regarding the school issue, I think each family will have its own set of experiences, beliefs, and circumstances that will influence how they will respond to the situation. I think grace for one another is so important as we collectively deal with Covid-19 and its global and national impact. Blessings for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteHawaii was going to have schools start next week, but then our COVID numbers doubled and tripled. Now... they are rethinking what to do. No kidding?!?!

ReplyDeleteYeah, definitely not a good time for schools to reopen Leona. I would not risk sending kids back to school until things are more in control and people are being more responsible. Stay health, safe and blessed!
ReplyDeleteYour grandson is special; I would take whatever precautions necessary. I don't believe on-line learning is ideal; our one grandson could never even sign on to the school's website. They have a weak wifi connection where he is. So I know they'd like schools to open for in-person learning. But I think parents should be an integral part of whatever decision the local schools make. Keep politics out of it.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a hot topic. Every state is different and every family's circumstances are different. My 2 older Granddaughters are out of school and I don't know what my daughter is going to decide for our little one. She has been told that they plan on reopening her brick and mortar job site early next year. She has been working at home since March and homeschooling. She was told by her school if she decides to continue homeschooling she cannot change positions midstream if she has to go back to work and there will be no before and after care. We watched Jennifer since she was 6 mos. old until this last year, as it became too much driving back and forth from PA to NJ. Things are not easy for single parent families. I keep praying things will improve but I'm afraid we are in for a bad winter. Thanks for all your visit and lovely comments. Stay safe with your adorable Grandson!
ReplyDeleteNot a chance! My granddaughter will be doing the all virtual option. Her school district has three option. Full time, part time & virtual, full time virtual. I know some people, because of work, may not have an option but anyone that does should use it to stay home. That will help the people that can't choose virtual.
ReplyDeleteWe did have a choice and we opted out. A few days after the choice they decided not to go back to in person school. Better safe than sorry and I agree with that more every day. A school opened in Indiana and a kid tested positive on the first day! People are walking around carrying this virus - it does not make sense that we won't protect each other by simply wearing masks, social distancing, and sanitizing. It's not hard and costs nothing.
