Fun Things To Do In Houston

Discovery Green Park

If you’re visiting Houston, Discovery Green Park in Downtown Houston is one attraction you don’t want to miss. It is fun, it’s family-oriented and, it’s FREE

There is so much to see and do you could very well spend the entire day there and still not get around to everything.

Discovery Green Park is Houston’s only eco-park. The park focuses on using lots of "green elements" including many trees, greenery, and using solar panels to keep the park powered instead of traditional electricity.

The park includes a children's area, several recreational areas, bandstands and venues for public performances, dog runs, and a lake.

Discovery Green Park in Downtown is a really amazing place with 250 Solar Panels, a Green Roof, and beautiful tree-shaded walks leading to a tranquil pond. Enchantingly lush grassy slopes offer postcard views of downtown.

Houston is truly a great place to live. It‘s a bit large for this seriously “country-at-heart-small-town-girl”, but, it is fabulous all the same. It is not only a wonderful place to live, but also an incredibly exciting place to visit as well.

Where In the World Are You?

Houston, Texas

Photo taken before Hurricane Harvey.

Really, where are you? Where in the world are you located? We, your friends, would like to know. Why am I being a nosey-rosey, getting all up in your business, asking you where you live?

After Hurricane Harvey a friend wished me well and sent prayers for me and the family. She also said she had no idea I lived in Houston. That started me thinking, I don’t know where many of my Blog Friends live either. I suppose I could check everyone’s profile page.  So, let’s do this instead.

Leave a comment and let us know where you are. We’d appreciate knowing where our Blog Friends are in the world.

Me, Dellgirl? I live in Houston, Texas. Where do you live?

Hurricane Harvey

Thank You for Your Prayers During Hurricane Harvey!

Please continue to pray for us as we deal with the aftermath of Harvey's damages.

I watched apprehensively as rain poured from the sky, the street in front of my house was completely covered within minutes. I moved steadily around the house and storage room gathering my already prepared “Hurricane Supplies”. Every so often I’d look outside to see what the weather was doing.

Hurricane Harvey continued to drench everything in sight. Strong winds bent some trees almost in half and sent debris flying in all directions. I continued collecting hurricane supplies so they would be handy in case of a power outage. Harvey ravaged on outside while I prepared for the unknown inside.

Preparing for Hurricane Harvey:

Propane Generator at the ready!

Propane Tanks ready to fuel the generator.

Batteries, flashlights, candles, etc. are ready and handy in bedroom.

Clothes, shoes, purse, and personal care items are ready, waiting by the door.

The only thing left to do is to wait and PRAY
