True Confessions

Confessions of a LateBloomer

How well do we know anybody? We don’t. We only know what we see when we are with them. We also see how another person portrays himself or herself to the world.

We don't know what they're hiding behind the mask they present to the world. People lie all the time. It is easy to get mislead online, and we would be non-the-wiser. That’s a sad fact, but it’s true.

So, who am I? What do I like and what do I do? I love reading, writing, sewing, crafts, and jewelry making.

I like researching online. I’m addicted to plain old research. I also spend a lot of time researching ways to make money online. I haven’t made much headway along those lines so far. I’m still searching though.

I also started researching my daddy’s family history online in 2008, but I’ve had to put that aside for a while. Life happened - - again and again and again.

Well, enough about me for now. I could go on and on forever. Did I say I love writing? I do love it. This is just a little of the life of the ~LateBloomer~, my online name…for a few hot minutes.

Who are you? What do you like? What do you do? Do you have a hobby?

There's a saying: "Everybody is normal until you get to know them."

The culture we live in (well, really, almost every culture) demands that people conform, and hide whatever makes them unique. Most people do, because very few are in a position to defy such pressures. This is why, deep down, almost everyone believes himself to be a rare individualist in a world of dull conformist drones. He know what lies deep within himself, but can't see what lies within everyone else.

I suspect that all eight billion of us are really individualists in various ways.

If I'm sometimes less that forthcoming about myself on the net, it's for protection of privacy (not always my own), not for deception.

Like you, I love reading and writing and researching things that interest me -- I was in academia decades ago, specializing in the Middle East. I still have to work to be more open to my non-intellectual side -- interest in pop music and movies and suchlike. I write science fiction but I've never posted any of it. I've ventured into poetry a couple of times and been encouraged by the response.

If I have a hobby, it's travel. One can only indulge that occasionally, however, due to the cost.

I suspect many people are late bloomers, because life keeps on and on happening. "Reality distracts and degrades us." It takes a long time to find oneself when one is constantly interrupted.

  5. Very true Leona. What we truly know about anyone is only very little. I guess the more time we spend with them, the more we get to know them. I've always been fascinated by the diversity that surrounds us. I've been fortunate to live in different countries and experience different cultures and people.

As for me, I'm an Indo-Canadian and now consider Canada my home. My professional line of work is human resources. I have a wide range of what I like. I love to constantly learn, improve and share the knowledge. I enjoy writing too and creating content, especially video content.

Wishing you a blessed week ahead and Happy June! :)
