My Mother’s Day Gift
Mother’s Day came
early this year, just like last year. Mike started his gardening project in
March. He said he wasn’t going to plant a lot, just a few things at first. He
planted one tomato plant, lettuce seeds, Asian melon, and strawberry plants. He
then transplanted some jalapeno plants that survived last summer’s drought and
the winter cold.
By April 28th the strawberry plant had taken
hold and started to look lush and green. Pretty little white flower buds peeked
boldly out from behind vivid green foliage. Every time I stepped out into the
yard, my heart sang a merry little tune.
Tiny yellow flower buds had popped open on the tomato
plant a couple of weeks earlier. Now there was a nice little tomato making its
appearance, just as cute as you please. Needless to say, I watered, watched,
and waited.
My cute little tomato bud had turned into a full-blown
salad filler by April 28th. So I watered, watched and, waited some
more … patiently.
The only thing to do now is give it time to grow a little more – and turn red. The salad bowl is ready, so is my stomach. It’s time to stop now I’m making myself hungry here.

So, what am I getting for Mother’s Day? I already have it, way early. Thanks to Mike I have a
beautiful garden to enjoy.
Happy Mother's Day everyone. I hope your day is filled with love and happiness!
