Is It Time to Say Goodbye?

~ Blogger's New Interface Might End My Blogging Days

If things don't get better soon using the New Blogger Interface, I will (through no fault of my own) disappear  from BlogLand.

The story of my blogging demise is extremely convoluted and too long to post it here. Just know, if you look for me and can't find me . . . I couldn't "cut-the-mustard".

I thought I'd let you know in advance in case I go MIA.

  1. I know what you mean. Double spaces. Pictures that won't fit. Etc. Etc. It's like learning a whole new language.

  2. Well, I certainly hope that doesn't happen (unless you had other reasons of your own for wanting to quit blogging). The new interface is a hassle. Even aside from the glitches, even when it works properly, it's much more difficult and frustrating to use than the "legacy" one. I tried it for a week and a half and gave up.

But they seem to be getting a torrent of negative feedback (not surprising), and the date for the old interface to become unavailable has already been pushed back from late July to August 24. If enough users are unhappy enough, they may push it back further, or just keep it permanently available. It would mean quietly admitting that the new interface was a mistake, like New Coke -- but Blogger has backed down before in the face of mass discontent from users at a proposed change. Please don't give up just yet.

  3. What is the problem with it? My experience is that it is just about the same as the other blogger, which you can switch back to for now if need be.

  4. Anvilcloud: This was my experience. This reaction seems to be more typical.

  5. Oh, I hope that will not be the case! I so enjoy reading your blogs! The new interface is a PIA but hopefully you will overcome! I don't have a lot of answers but send me a message and I will try and help.

  6. I tried the new interface, but switched back to the old one. Sticking my head in the sand and hoping that makes the new one go away :-)

  7. Please, don't give up on blogging. They are still working on a new interface and it will be better eventually. You always can switch to the old interface if you go to "Revert to legacy blogger" and click on it, it's under "Posts, Stats and other stuff", at the very bottom and written in grey letters. When you download your picture in a new interface you can click on a picture to highlight it and on top there is an editing tool, it's like a pen, click on it and you see a few options for your pictures. Work with them.
Please, stay blogging, you are a very interesting person with a great individuality. Stay safe and healthy. A warm hug.
