Emergency Room Visit

About six o’clock last Sunday evening, grandson Jace, started with sniffles, coughing, slight chills, and the beginnings of a fever. His mommy did her Mommy thing with the proper medications. His fever remained.

Just before it was time for his bath and bedtime ritual, everything was sort of okay. All was quiet for a while. He even went to bed and slept a little while.

Around eleven pm, my daughter called out for me to come in and help out. Jace was coughing so hard he started to spit-up. The fever had spiked and the chills were severe. We talked about his issues and decided to be proactive instead of waiting around for something to happen.

We headed for the emergency room. We had to carry him inside and hold him because of the chills and fever. The doctor gave Jace a good examination. He gave Jace medicine for the fever and another for his cough, once he had gotten Jace’s medical history. He ordered chest x-rays to see what was going on inside our little trooper and we waited for results.

Twenty to twenty-five minutes after taking the medicines, Jace was on the floor jumping and playing like nothing had happened. The doctors and nurses smiled and gave him big thumbs up as they passed our area and saw the immediate change in him.

We walked through the door at home at 3:05 am Monday morning. Jace was not ready to go to bed and Mommy and I were both starving. He sat between us as we tore open our Jack-in-the-Box breakfast.

With a fever-free baby, medical questions answered, and food filled stomachs, we head to bed…to sleep and give thank God for healing blessings once again.

Jace missed school all last week because fever issues. So we start anew this week with Jace returning to school.

Thank you God for your blessings!

  2. Oh no, Leona! I know you all sent MANY prayers to the Throne Room in that ER. I was filled with panic as I read this. SO THANKFUL to read the ending. I hope and pray Jace has NO more emergencies. It's so hard when our little ones are sick.
