10. Good Luck Bad Luck!
An old farmer
used an old horse to plow his fields. One day, his horse escaped into the hills.
When the farmer's neighbors sympathized with the old man over his bad luck, the
farmer replied, "Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?"
A week later, the
horse returned with a herd of horses from the hills. This time the neighbors
congratulated the farmer on his good luck. His reply was, "Good luck? Bad
luck? Who knows?"
Then,
when the farmer's son was attempting to tame one of the wild horses, he fell
off its back and broke his leg. Everyone thought this very bad luck. Not the
farmer, whose only reaction was, "Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?"
Some
weeks later, the army marched into the village and took every able-bodied youth
they found there. When they saw the farmer's son with his broken leg, they let
him off. Now was that good luck or bad luck? Who knows?
Everything that
seems on the surface to be an evil may be a good in disguise. And everything
that seems good on the surface may really be an evil. So we are wise when we
leave it to God to decide what is good fortune and what misfortune, and thank
him that all things turn out for good with those who love him. ~Author Unknown~
I'm wishing you the best kind of luck. I think that's the kind you make for yourself. :-) Happy Thanksgiving, Leona.
ReplyDeleteit's the ying/yang effect...challenges can build strengths...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite one is...Luck is for the ill-prepared, so I won't wish you any.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy day of thanksgiving - today and everyday!

ReplyDeleteenlightening. thanks for sharing. happy thanksgiving, may the joy and spirit of it resonate in your being and home.
I always say good luck, but I think I want to say good karma. Or blessed be. I know that may sound a little off, but good luck and God bless are not exactly what I mean although both are good.
ReplyDeleteI know... I can be a strange bird. LOL
I like all those quotes but 2 & 3 are the best because they're almost identical. I do believe the last bit is straight out of the Bible. I'm going to save these because my sister is always talking about luck when luck really doesn't have anything to do with what she's talking about- usually she's just talking about someone's hard work finally prospering. Great post !
