Project: Play Yard

Baby son and I spent the better part of Friday afternoon working in the backyard. Time, weather, and neglect have taken a mighty toll back there. Leaves cover the ground like a thick fur blanket, broken limbs and twigs all over the place. It’s a mess -- with a capital “M”!

We decided several weeks ago to clean it up and make grandson a nice place to play. That kid loves the outdoors. We’d all but finished for the day when grandson and his mommy joined us. He has never been out in the backyard before, too messy. So, this was something new for him. In the blink of an eye grandson raced off to explore the new territory.

He thought the lawn mower was a new toy, just for him. The look of sheer joy on his face was priceless! After he got the hang of pushing the mower and maneuvering it around, he was all over the place with it…until the leaf blower caught his attention.

But, that didn’t last long. He started banging it on the ground and I had to take it so he wouldn’t break it. Oh well, back to the lawn mower.
Grandson thoroughly enjoyed himself and we enjoyed watching him enjoy himself. Needless to say, we have no doubt that he’s going to love the play-yard when we get it all done.
It was a good day, hard work and all.

  1. Blessings my earthly sistah....
peeking in early this morning to see what you up too. Grandbaby is growing is see. They don't fret but for a moment and move on to the other thing much like the blower and the mower, if only they would keep those traits, life would be a lot simpliar and a whole lot less dramatic.

I trust everything's good on the health front for you and yours? Have a blessed weekend.

  8. Had to laugh at that comment above mone from MOMSWEB! Yup. You'll be trying to get him to mow and he'll have a thousand other things to do.

I hope this is the next -to-beginning of a great week for you and the family.

Loved seeing how he's grown. This is Katie, Mom's new kitty after Admiral passed away.
