The Very Last Drop…of Toothpaste
One
Friday I went to the store and forgot to get toothpaste. Oh well, there’s
always enough toothpaste left in the tube to get several more brushings, so not
to worry. We usually squeeze it to the very last drop anyway.
Monday
morning found me procrastinating and not making the slightest effort to replace
the toothpaste. Nobody else in the house seemed interested either as I didn’t
see them going to get it.
Tuesday:
Milk is out, eggs are almost gone, nothing but butt ends left in the bread bag,
and there is only a swig of ice tea left in the jug. Orange juice is all gone.
I have GOT to go to the store now.
When the drinks run low, it’s time to do
something. I made a list, headed for the store, and picked up everything we
needed.
Wednesday
morning I opened the new box of toothpaste and grabbed the old tube to toss it
in the trash. The sight of the old squashed up tube laying (yes…laying) next to
the brand new tube sent me scurrying for my camera. I’m a camera fanatic, you
know.
Then,
the thought crossed my mind…do I toss the old tube or should I keep it until
it’s totally all the way empty?
Don’t laugh, there was a time when I would have kept it and even cut it open
with scissors to get the very last drop.
Not
this time though, I tossed it!
There you have it, my nonsensical rant about squeezing toothpaste.
Do
you squeeze your toothpaste tube to the last drop? Or do you replace it well
before it gets near the end? What are your thoughts on squeezing the Last Drop of Toothpaste?

DeleteAt the price of toothpaste these days, you can bet I’m squeezing it until it coughs up its last drip.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Kay. I like how you said that. Thank you for leaving this nice comment.
DeleteYour rant was written at the right time! My husband and I just had this conversation. We were at the store and I put a new tube of toothpaste in the cart and he said we still have some left. I said it is getting low and I want to have a new tube on hand. Next time I went to use the old one he had a rubber band on it squeezing everything up to the top that was left over! So I gave him that one and took the new one out!!
