I Could Be Dead!!!

Instead I'm Counting Blessings

I am thankful for all the things we as people seem to take for granted, starting with our health and strength. There are 5 specific things I am extremely thankful for. These 5 things are gifts from God and, I am sincerely thankful that I can see, hear, touch/feel, taste, and smell.

I am very thankful that I can wake up each morning and see the beauty of God’s creations. I further realize that if clean my eyeglasses I can see even better. Thank you, God for ophthalmologists.

I am thankful to be able to hear the sounds of nature and the ordinary everyday sounds of life, especially laughter.

I am thankful that I remain on this side of the dirt and I’m not buried down under it. I can feel this overwhelming Texas heat and be grateful for the sense of feeling.

I am thankful to be able to taste the many wonderful foods and beverages God allows us to provide for ourselves.

I am thankful that I am able to smell freshly cut grass, the sweet fragrance of beautiful flowers and fruits, and the awesome pleasantness of earth after the rain. Yesterday I marveled at the mouth-watering aroma of perfectly seasoned chicken breasts sautéing on the stove.

Last night I snuggled in bed next to a sweet-smelling sleeping baby Jace. I thank God I am able to smell Jace’s sweetness, gaze upon his peaceful sleeping body and, know that I am truly blessed!

Thank you God for all your loving blessings!

For me, I have found that gratitude in times of trouble has actually helped me get through it and, that gratitude in adversity always turned the adversity into a blessing.

  1. I read somewhere that it's a good idea to keep a journal and list five good things that happened every day. I still have the book that I kept writing in for several months and it's great to read it. It really is a wonderful thing to always remember the blessings that we are graced with. I do love what you wrote about Jace. What a beautiful, sweet blessing he is.

  5. Every day when I wake, I think God for the privelege. I thank Him for all my blessings even if it take 15 minutes. All that I can readily recall and even the ones I am unaware of. I thank Him for my sons, for my home, for the job that paid for that home, for my car and the job etc etc. My food. Being warm when it's cold and cool when it's hot. Friends. Oh there are so many blessings. xxooxx
