What Is Your Writing Style?

Writing style and writing voice are what separates good writing from great writing. Likewise, writing style and writing voice separate good blogs from great blogs. Although writing voice and writing style have a lot in common they are not the same thing. The difference between great writing and mediocre writing is - individual style.

What is writing style? Writing style is not always easy to define. It is something that cannot be taught, you either have it or you don't. Writing Style is a product of our ability to learn by reading and listening to people talk. Our writing style is simply the way we construct a sentence and the way we put sentences together.

Your writing style is not what you say but how you say it.

Many of us are already writing and have no idea what our writing style is. Some of us are not even aware that we have a writing style. No problem, because perhaps ironically, the best writing style is invisible.

Developing your writing style is important to your becoming a good writer. If you try to write the way other people write, to duplicate their success, you may find that you are unable to imitate it. That is simply because you have a different style of writing than they do.  Don't copy a writing style from another writer. Write to make your style your own.

Think of it this way, "A man's style in any art should be like his attire - it should attract as little attention as possible.” It is apparent that the writing style is simple and informal.

The best writing style is the one that is apparent to the reader, although the meaning of the term writing style might somehow escape the writer. With that in mind, writers should simply write.

Your writing style will make itself known in the way you construct sentences and more so in the way you put sentences together. Say what you have to say – your way.

That is your unique writing style.

What is your writing style? Do you know what your writing style is? How would you find it?

    Hmmmmmm, very interesting piece.

I can say that I have never examined my writing style. I simply write from my authentic flow of energy. Sometimes I feel like a piece writes itself as the flow moves through me and cannot be changed while I write some and make so many changes that it is unrecognizable from the form in which it enveloped.

You often read my writing what would you say my style is?

    Have a blessed week

  3. I think my writing style could be labeled as conversational. I've been told - especially by people who know me IRL - that reading my blog posts is like talking to me in person. As far as other writing is concerned like my novel I'm not exactly sure of my writing style. I'll have to think about this a little longer.

  4. I found this interesting and perplexing as I have no idea if i have a style. I got concerned when I found my humor missing of late, but then I thought my style was too one-liner funny at one point
    Thanks for this
