Crazy

Things continue to be crazy around here for me. Mama came Friday for her week to stay with me. She was with my brother the week before. It has been so cold I don’t get a chance to go outside for breaks like I do when the weather is nice. So we are (and have been much of that time) stuck in the house looking at each other looking lost and forlorn.

As usual, it has been a steady round of bringing, fetching, carrying, and doing. It’s up early in the morning to give her breakfast and medications at nine am. Next is her eleven am snack, no meds. One o’clock, and it’s time for lunch. There’s another snack time and a fluid pill at 3 pm.

It’s dinner/supper time at 6 pm and time for her night time meds. She used to go to bed at five o’clock in the evening, but she seems to be staying up later and later these days. A couple of times since she’s been here, she has been up past seven pm.  Ummmm, interesting, huh?

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a whole lot more busy-ness going on, but I had better stop so I can post this. If I try to tell it all, that won’t happen.

Anyway, I am just checking in to update you on where I have been and what’s happening with me. How are you? I hope you had a good weekend, did you? What did you do? I didn’t do anything print worthy, but the weekend was okay.

Have a great week everyone!

  2. Well, this brings back some 'Mom' memories for me. Three things helped me.
    1. Try to stay in the day you are in and not project into the future. We can do anything for a day without losing our mind.
    2. I had help come in. It was good for Mom, and spelled me some time to not be responsible for all the care.
    3. I was fortunate in that my mom was a sweetheart...for the most part.
And as a distraction, I would sing during the 'bathroom experiences' sometimes making up my own words using a familiar tune.
Good luck and I will send you some cyber hugs!

  3. I guess those of us who still have our moms are being more caregivers now. Luckily my mother is still young and able to do almost anything. I hope it stays that way for a good long while. You are being a wonderful daughter, Leona.

  4. You are taking great care of your mother. I imagine it's hard to be indoors all day because of the weather.

  6. Blessings.....
Find the time in between it all to pamper yourself or else you will fall prey to burnout.

    Happy Valentines day.
I am doing well that for the grace of God.

    Peace my friend.

  10. You are right, Kay. Many of us that us still have our moms are caregivers now. I am just thankful that I am able to do it. Many our age are in poor health themselves and need someone to care for them.

  11. Yes Medeia, being indoors all day because of the weather is hard. When the weather is good, we can get her outside for a walk a couple of times a day. Thank you for your kind words.

  12. I agree with you, Robyn. Sometimes life is so hard it's scary. The only thing that gets me through sometimes is God's goodness and mercy.
