Quiet Sunday Afternoons

Today the weather was pleasantly cool, not much sunshine to speak of. It was mostly overcast and cloudy, which is fine with me.

I didn’t sleep the whole day away, but I did sleep in a bit. I got up only because I had to cook. I would have preferred to stay in bed all day long being lazy, but if I wanted to eat I had to cook.

I love quiet Sunday afternoons, and this one was perfect. It was perfect for curling up with a good book to read or with my laptop to play blogging. One or the other will be my first stop after dinner is finished.

Since I couldn’t very well stay in bed all day like I wanted to I decided to cook, but only enough for today. Tomorrow can take care of itself.

I had taken some chicken wings and pork chops out of the freezer last night to thaw. I seasoned those and popped them in the oven to bake.

I had a package of chicken seasoned rice so I put that on. Then I started a skillet of grilled chicken breast strips with vegetables to simmering. That’s enough! That will do the trick. I planned to chop some lettuce and tomatoes for a quick salad later.

Cooking dinner didn’t take long and I had everything simmering in no time at all. That’s good because I hate cooking. With dinner almost done and I was ready to relax.

How was your day? What did you do all weekend? Did you do anything fun and interesting? Would you care to share?

What do you mean if you wanted to eat you had to cook. What happen to the other hands in the house, i know you don't live alone. Come on now, at least one Sunday a month you should be able to lay around and have food brought to you.

Those wings look deliclious though, haven't bought wings in ages, since they have title. You know Mr. Wing with the cost being so high, hardly any damn meat on the bone and they want and arm and a leg for it. They can keep that.

Any way, have a blessed week eh. My sunday was cool, spent the day baking bread with my godson's and their mother. Wholewheat, wheatgerm, oatmeal honey, molasses, maca bread.

  3. Hehehe. Leona, I LOVE quiet Sundays. I don't get many. When I do I just love it. Your chicken looks so good. The menu sounds YUMMY! I agree with Rhapsody. Have family bring YOU dinner in bed. You deserve it! Thanks for reading my story. Hugs, my friend.

  4. I love peaceful weekends. Saturdays I usually nap a lot, while Sundays I do most of my errands and housekeeping.

  5. Hi Leona! Mmmm... The chicken looks scrumptious! My past month has been rather busy and turbulent. Too much happening to deal with.
